About us

Build-her.org is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that aims to support women in construction and trades by encouraging self-discovery, self-development, and sharing their unique stories, as well as connecting them with stories of similar women in the industry.

Our vision is to provide genuine support to build trust and build relationships with other women who can provide authentic sharing and advice. We are looking to continue opening the eyes of women and men in the construction community to continue the progress of equal opportunity and advocating for more women in the construction and trades industry.

Why we exist

Young Adults aiming for a trade or construction career path

Providing those seeking a career path in a trade or in the construction or related industry a resource to begin documenting their journey and goals and how to effectively start owning their boundaries when dealing with others. Opening their perspective on being supportive to others, while still maintaining respect for themselves and others. Challenging them to believe in themselves and fueling their desire to do great things.

Early Career and Career
Transitions

For entry level and early career individuals, and those who have transitioned from another career path, providing a resource to talk about common issues they may be facing in the industry. For those who have difficulty attending conferences or networking events, leading group sessions on weekly topics help to engage with others within an attainable reach. Creating authentic connections right where they’re at they can build and establish authentic networks of supportive team members.

Self-Reflection and Authentic Sharing

Those who are reading or have read our book are encouraged to share in their challenges and experiences as well as encourage a safe place to share thoughts and challenges with others. This can also be a personal guide in framing how to share your story with others and increase visibility of construction and trades being an option to others and visual representation to young adults seeking this career path. We encourage our allies and advocates to also take part in these conversations in order to genuinely seek ways to support fellow team members.
